In this article series, we’re covering better writing and how you get your customers glued to their screens while they devour your marketing.
If you haven’t checked the previous ones, it’s here:
Do you know what the worst mistake people make while writing?
It’s something I like to call “waffling”.
In other words, it’s being boring………….
Let me show you what I mean:
“The meeting will be held at five and what will be discussed is ‘the sorry state of business writing.”
Here’s a better version:
“The meeting’s at five. Subject: ‘The sorry state of business writing’.”
See how that’s much better?
You shouldn’t bore the prospects with unnecessary wording and waste their time.
Your writing must be to the point. You must avoid being timid and using weak, castrated language.
You’re supposed to cut through all the clutter and noise.
Trying to cut through the noise using waffling language is similar to cutting down a tree with a spaghetti strand. It simply won’t work.
We need a chainsaw.
If not, you might as well stop writing and step out of the competition entirely.
